Part 1 of the Risk Management Qualification is targeted at all persons who require a general background introduction to various aspects of a SHEQ management system. The purpose of Part 1 is to provide the learner with insight, knowledge and understanding of the topics below.  A fundamental understanding of the topics is vital as the learner has to interpret and apply concepts learned in these modules to Part 2 of the Risk Management Qualification. Modules include the following:

  1. Introduction to SHEQ Management
  2. Basic Legal Liability
  3. Introduction to Incident Prevention
  4. Introduction to Health and Safety Representatives/ Committees
  5. Introduction to Safe Behaviour Management
  6. Introduction to Hazardous Work Management
  7. Introduction to Hazardous Chemical Substances (HCS) Management
  8. Introduction to Occupational Health
  9. Introduction to Safe Work Measures
  10. Requirements for Housekeeping/Premises
  11. Introduction to Machinery/Equipment Safety

Part 2 of the Risk Management Qualification is targeted at all Supervisors and Safety Officers.  The purpose of Part 2 is to provide the learner with the necessary competence to interpret, apply and manage SHEQ risks and systems on a day-to-day basis in his/her workplace. Modules include the following:

  • Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)
  • Supervising Hazardous Work
  • Supervising Hazardous Chemical Substances (HCS)
  • Work Permit Systems
  • Task Observation
  • Introduction to Emergency Preparedness

  • Communication & Training/Coaching Techniques
  • Incident Management
  • Basic Safe Behaviour Management
